chrasy.com ; naive gravity means never falling

My name is Tracey. I love languages and I love the way that people communicate with each other. I love music and I'm a very bad driver which makes sense, since I'm Asian AND female. I live quietly, but my life is often full of brilliant sparks and happy moments. Let me share them with you.

I love food.

I love that some people (food bloggers, for one example) are so passionate about food. I love food, I really do and you know that diet I was on? Well I broke it in one day because I just needed FOOD. I love people who are all “Stuff it, I want to be fat and happy and eat my food” and I very much want to stop being one of those people who are all “I AM SO DAMN FAT” when really, I love food so much that I should accept being pleasantly chubby as a natural consequence. The only obstacle standing in the way of chubby enlightenment is my search for a formal (i.e. prom) dress. And I really cannot go all Molly Ringwald and sew myself up a totally alt.cool dress because my sewing skills are even worse than my cooking skills.

But that’s not the point! The point is that I love food and I’m not really a cooking type person, which makes me meccha (read: really really really) sad because sometimes I just get into this amazing mood where I think “OH GOD I HAVE TO COOK.” but you know, there is never ANYTHING in my house. I mean, we’re Chinese, we don’t bake, we don’t make pasta (which is a shame because damnnnnnn pasta is amazing), we don’t eat casseroles - I have had boiled rice and steamed fish in ginger and soy sauce for dinner every day, ever since my mum and dad have been out of a job and started sitting around at home all day, cleaning. That is how Asian we are and how much our food is decidedly Asian.

But back to the point of food. I just love reading people’s recipes, I love their reactions, I love reading restaurant reviews (and fondly thinking of the very distant day that I will be able to afford eating at some high-class fancy-schmancy restaurant!). I love food presentation, and some days I even loved being a waitress, serving people their yummy food. Well, that only happened very rarely. I love the smell of food, I love cheese, I will probably try anything except the roasted cockroaches and scorpions I saw on the streets of Beijing once. I have pictures, don’t make me show them!

ANYWAY: The point of this post was to tell the world how much I love food (and partially to escape sleeping). This is the only way I can declare my love for food, since I really cannot make recipes, take photos of food, bake scrumptious muffins, cake, etc.

This post was bought to you buy midnight snack cravings! :D
