Normal dog behaviour?

After my piano lesson, I saw one large dog laying on the ground, looking like it was dead or paralysed. First of all, animals of all kinds creep me out a little bit (even dogs and cats) so secondly, dogs that look like they’re dead creep me out so much more! To make things worse, another dog comes around, this time a tiny one and starts licking around the dead-looking dog’s mouth. I don’t know, is this normal dog behaviour? It was weird and almost like the tiny dog was going to eat the bigger dog! Just so you know, the larger canine wasn’t dead, but it DIDN’T EVEN MOVE when the smaller dog started going at its mouth!

I thought it was the beginning of the year of the dog tomorrow (February 7), so I thought that would make it SUPER WEIRD AND SCARY but I looked it up, and it’s actually the year of the rat. Nevertheless, happy Chinese New Year everybody! May you get lots and lots of red envelopes!

    INSTALL CHINESE CHARACTERS!

I honestly have no idea how to. Ideas?

On XP, I think it’s “Languages” under Control Panel, then Advanced…you have to tick the Chinese IME boxes, and install the files (have the installation CD in the disk drive). Or, I think you can download the SImplified Chinese IME from the Microsoft site as well?

How is something I install on my computer going to affect my site? :P I’m thinking… it has something to do with… Character encoding and language attributes. Hmmm. Something to research.

  13. # Nat, 10 months ago.

Yay, it’s my year! Go the Rat. Anyway just wanted to let you know the dog mouth licking thing is normal. Dogs also lick each others ears, its all signs of affection.

I’ve never experienced that sort of dog behaviour either. Sometimes one of my cats will go up and lick my dog’s ear or something (probably to point out that she needs a bath!), but they know each other. It’s not like they’re just random street animals! Ha ha. I didn’t get any red envelopes this year, which I suppose is one of the disappointing things that happens when you are 1) Not Chinese on CNY, and B) No longer in school (we used to get them even if we were little white children. Yay multiculturalism!).

  22. # Tracey, 10 months ago.

Definitely not a dead dog - it opened its eyes when I walked up to it to check if it was still breathing!

    Thank you very much!
