What what what what in the butt?

Is anybody else getting comments that are technically spam, but could be genuine comments? For example, on my formal post, I got two that Akismet and Spam Karma didn’t think were spam:

Cute picture and cute couple. I suggest you get away with glasses though. Source

The whole glasses thing makes me think that it’s a genuine comment (but also makes me think I look hideously unattractive with glasses - I am going to have self esteem issues because of that comment :P) but the link that accompanied it - which I removed - was super suspicious.

Pictures says a thousand words, but if it could be described in one word, it would be “ADORABLE” source

I don’t know if I’m enough of a comment whore to keep them, they actually weird me out and I’m kind of disturbed by them!

I don’t have that problem but I just started with my blog so I don’t get a lot of comments. My problem with Akismet is that it keeps thinking some comments are spam when they’re not! :-/

    Radio Detector? Cyprus Apartments? Bizarre.

I forgot where I saw it, but I know that somebody posted somewhere about a new kind of comment spam that tricks the filters; they got a comment that offered to advertise their own site using that spam, or something.

God knows a lot of us get such meaningless comments *cough* that it would be easy to spoof them like this so that they almost look real…le sigh.

If that happens, I guess I’ll just have to do what I did with the other comments and remove the link. I’ll keep my comments, but no linky for them! :P

O_O Righteo! Odd much? I’d say deletedeletedelete … *pokes them suspiciously* I’ve only had 2 spam comments so far that Akismet’s caught, one of which was actually a vulgar, barely insulting attack posted by someone who got squished and killed by us on Snark, so … *blink*

Comment whore to the core :-P

Are you gonna take the link off of this? LOL! I think you should keep them but don’t remove the link because if it’s a genuine comment it’s not particularly nice to remove it. Just keep an eye out for future meaningless comments that they put up just to get a link to their site.

I’ve been getting a few like that! They even start off with something that is plausible, or end with something plausible but in between it’s simply full of links or repetitive words.

I’ve never gotten weird comments like that before. If there are links though, they are probably spam.
