Coming home
I love family outings to Sydney. I love scarfing down dim sim at yum cha. I love looking into those kooky and cute shops filled with clothes that I may never fit into (but wouldn’t wear in public) and stuffed animals. I immerse myself into the large crowds and lose myself in all the people.
I love just being there with my whole family. It’s not every day that we’re all together, eating dinner or shopping. It’s not like a holiday, we’re not forced to be tourists, we don’t have arguments over where we want to go. We know where we are, and we are comfortable together.
Coming home is special though. We’ve had our big day out, we’ve seen the lights, we’ve had our fill. It’s the best way to end our day. My parents will sit in the front of the car and gossip about people we saw today, or things we did. Michael and I will sit in the back, an earphone in each ear and yell the lyrics to his favourite songs (because I can’t get him to like my kind of music, no matter how hard I try!) We’ll laugh at each other when we stuff up the words, we’ll laugh at mum when she tells us not to swear (even though we didn’t write the songs!) and we’ll sing louder when mum and dad try to talk over us.
Then we come home and it’s still. It’s enough for us. We’re content.

I love those car rides home. My family does the same thing–my parents in the front, talking about the day, people we met, things we saw, and my brothers and I in the back listening to our iPods or whispering about how weird our parents are. Unfortunately we don’t do much of this anymore, as family outings and vacations usually involve more arguing than peaceful moments such as this, but nonetheless, it can be fun. :)

Lol. Not my family. We try our hardest to spend as little time together as possible. lol.
But, it’s good to know there are normal families out there.

Coming home is always nice, whether it’s after work, a day out, or a holiday. There’s no place like home :D

I used to giggle a lot with my little sister in the back seat of the car while my parents just casually talk in the front. I always loved that! Unfortunately we don’t go out on family trips that often anymore. =/

My family can’t - unfortunately - not stand the sight of one another. Having a feeling of a closeness and a connection is precious!

Well, lucky you! My family doesn’t seem to be able to go anywhere without a huge row ensuing :P It sucks but oh well. Sometimes it can be funny to sit back and watch XD I wonder what other people think..
