Strangers and parties
Strangers make me uncomfortable and being in a room full of them is infinitely more awkward and unnerving. Especially when everyone else seems to know each other, and I am left sitting in a chair all alone.
I tried to strike up conversations, to meet new people. They were just not interested in being met, and instead focused on socialising with people they already knew. I think that’s a bit of a waste. What good is anything when it’s the same thing all the time?
If I had gone to my second preferred school, I would not have been a stranger. I just think about how different this party would have been if I knew more about their people than what my friend whispered into my ear throughout the course of the evening.
“Oh, don’t like her, she’s a bit of a slut.”
“She’s nice to your face, but a bitch behind your back.”
“She’s a fantastic girl, you guys would get along well. You’re both weird.”
Under different circumstances, in a different world… I wonder…
P.S. Please excuse any gross misalignments or broken links etc., that may occur in the next week or so. I’m changing things around.

Yeah, that’s the shit thing about teenage parties. Don’t worry. It gets better. What did you end up going as?

The devil. But no one really got it.

LOL at your friend :P Aw. That kind of atmosphere sucks though.

I don’t tend to get the hint. I’ll really talk to anybody, and sacrifice my humility to entertain them. The last sentence reminds me of a sparkly graphic somebody sent me on myspace - “you’re weird! I like you!”.
‘Tis okay though Tracey. You’re obviously too fabulous for them. Which is why we love you and keep you to our e-selves.

I guess that’s what happens when you are still in the process of getting to know new people at your school. It will get better in time, surely you’ll know more people when the next party arrives :)

Chans, what new school? :P Perhaps you misunderstand me, I’m sorry I confused you, but I’ll try and explain. I went to the same primary school as the person who held the party, and we both went to different high schools. If I didn’t go to the one I go to now, I’d be going to hers, thus I would’ve known everyone at that party and wouldn’t have felt like such an outcast.
Psssst Amber, I’m too e-fabulous for you :P

“Oh that Chrasy girl, I don’t like her- she’s a bit of a noob.” :P

People who don’t feel like being met must have been a party turn off when you was just sitting there. If I were you and accepting another invitation I would probably bring a friend or two that I knew well’er.

Two of my neighbour girls do exactly the same thing. They’ll sit in the garden and discuss other girls like so:
“You know that slut…”
“Which one?”
“The one with the weird hair cut and wobbly legs. Goes to school with us.”
“Oh yeah! What about her?”
“Well… BLAH BLAH BLAH.”
Honestly. =/

That’s how it ussualy like at parties, it really sucks standing there with your drink looking around confused x_x
By some luck, I dont have friends like that, I know about some who are the same, but we’re not friends. :)
I like the “weird” sentence - reminds me of me :P

Parties where everyone knows everyone else aren’t the best places to meet new people.
Anyways, I hope that you won’t have to go to a party like that again!

I actually quite enjoy parties. I tend to stay away from the alcohol and get slightly high on any available soft-drinks becuase who really needs to fall asleep in front of 50 or so strangers. If I wanted to do that I would buy myself a webcam and whore-out a Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/watchthedrunkenchicksleep) complete with disgusting pixelated bottles of Merlot and sheep.
I think I don’t mind parties as I tend to latch onto strangers and absorb them into my web of ultimately evil plans with quite scary enthusiasm. For all the shoddy-strangers, poke them in the ear. It may not be a practical solution, but it’s hella hilarious to watch their expressions when you do.

I managed to avoid pretty much all party-going, even at university. I went out to places with friends, but clubbing is pretty different than going to parties, IME… Parties always seemed like a forced intimacy since I was rarely close to the people trying to drag me along, let alone whoever’s party it was. Nice to see I wasn’t missing much. :)
