Stop exaggerating the time!
“Tracey, it’s 11, why are you still on the computer?!?!”
“Ummm..” It is at this moment I check the clock. It’s not 11. “Because it’s only ten?”
This is a common occurence in my house. People are ALWAYS exaggerating the time. It’s like my parents’ body clocks are permanently on daylight savings time. Even when it is daylight savings.
“Hurry up, you’re meant to be at work in ten minutes!”
Again, I look at the clock and I see that I have half an hour to go. Then again, I understand why people want to hurry me up, I do have a way of dawdling and taking my sweet time to do something. Maybe my mother is trying to push my own body clock forward. Perhaps a little too far forward, because sometimes I hear things like “You need to grow up and act responsibly, you’re almost seventeen!” fly out of her mouth.
“Um, Mum, I’m not sixteen yet.”
If she gets her way, maybe I’ll be living over a year in the future!
Or maybe it could have something to do with the fact that all the clocks in this house are set forward by twenty minutes or something. I wonder…

You think that’s bad? I’ve been 21 for the past five years.

Ha! My parents do the exact same thing with my 14 year old brother (and probably me too, when I was younger).

Dittooo… I should start getting ready for the HSC now.

The age one is really bad… Wow. That makes me laugh though, ha. *is laughing*

haha, it might be an asian thing. my parents always add on a year to my age and since i’m born late in the year, it ends up being more like 2 years. and the time thing happens too. when it’s 10:10, they round off to “almost 11″ even though all of the clocks in my house are set at least 5 minutes early.

Haha, my parents do the same thing. At least my mom does - especially when she’s trying to wake me up.

Well.. at least they’re just an hour off…
Every time my Dad wakes me up, I automatically subtract three hours from whatever comes out of his mouth. “It’s already noon!” means its 9 AM. It’s like he’s in a different time zone. lol

Or maybe they know you very well and don’t want you to be late at all so they have to place you in future time to get things done ;)

Back to the future!! D: I think I’m the one that does exaggerating in this house. I have a way of rounding up if it’s, say, 6:49. Or some other close-to-the-next-number-but-not-quite-there time.

My mum does that ALL the time. And she shouts me telling me dinner is ready 15 minutes before it’s out on the plate :|
She has her clock in her bedroom set 2 hours ahead, rofl.

the same thing happens here at my house. “it’s past midnight already, go to sleep” umm, it’s just 10pm. it’s like somewhere along the human development line (getting kids, getting old, etc), a person adaptively sets his/her body clock forward. lol

My parents are perpetually late, so it’s the exact opposite in my house. They think it’s 10, when it’s actually 11, haha.

Tell me about it. I don’t think there is a single person in my family that even has a correct concept of time. My parents usually exaggerate the time, and the rest of my family takes their damn sweet time for everything. Yay!

All parents probably exaggerate the time, same here - it’s just midnight, and they say it’s almost 1. Why don’t teachers exaggerate time?

Oh mine do that as well (aside the age issue, they seem to have learned that). Then again, I do have a tendency to laze around till the last possible minute. ;)
