Naivety

So, my mother lost her handbag. That’s why I was on hold - I had to lock her mobile sim card. I am still annoyed about waiting for twenty minutes.

Is it naive of me to hope that someone nice found her bag and will return it? Instead of some little shit who has nicked off with everything in it.

Mum says it’s not losing her cash or cards or whatever that bothers her. It’s the fact that someone has our details, someone knows where I live, someone has photos of my family and I. It’s bothering me too, and I have an insane urge to cry.

You make it sound scary. But then again it’s so easy to figure things out about people these days just via internet research. I’d be sad about losing the bag and all the personal stuff inside :( I hope someone brings it back to you.

Has she cancelled all of her credit cards, etc, just in case?

Hey, it’ll be ok. Everything in that bag was replaceable.

The family pictures thing might be a bit freaky, but you guys will be fine.

I had a similar experience when I got my new cellphone snatched. It was rather terrifying. I hope you and your mom are ok. :)

My mother is really careful when it comes to what she carries in her bag because of an experience she had when she was my age. I wont go into details because it’s not very comforting to read if you’re in the same situation… but nowadays, Mum never carries large amounts of cash, credit cards, photos or addresses in her bag. She has her EFTPOS card and a buttload of unidentifiable crap and that’s it.

I hope nothing terrible comes of this, because it would suck, for want of a better word.

Well let’s just hope that person’s in it for the belongings *just that* and not actually some professional stalker. I’m sorry your mom lost her handbag. We’d be damned (my mom and I) if her handbag was lost as well.

When something financial gets lost within our family, we like to think the thief needed money to feed their family. It’s easier to deal that way.

This happened to my mother once, two years ago. In the end her handbag was discovered in front of some old guy’s lawn who returned the bag to her, but all of her stuff was gone :/ She ended up canceling all of her cards and freezing her accounts, and she had to get new cards etc reissued.

It was nerve wracking :( I hope your mom’s handbag gets returned!

I was much like you, so naive to believe someone would return my ipod…or just out of goodness, would return it after they stole it. Alas, it never happened.

At least nothing worst happened, like your mom’s life in danger cause of a robber, or something, right?

I know how that feels, it’s been years since I couldn’t find my Ultimate Blue Version of Pokémon…

I know there’s a lot of creepy people out there, but honestly, if someone really wanted your family photo/details/etc… they can easily get hold of it by other means unbeknownest to you. Don’t stress about it TOO much, just remember to report the missing/stolen bag and especially the credit cards, etc.

I was more naive I think. I lost a lot of money on my 15h birthday, lost or someone took it. Anyway, it was very naive of me to think that whoever did it would give it back because come on, it was my birthday.

I don’t think they just register where you guys live, they will just take what ever that has value and trash the rest… But, still horrible :(
I she has cancelled all her credit-cards so the damage won’t get bigger…
