Letters read
I am a collector of memories. Photos, hair cuttings (Huh??), drawings, and most importantly: letters and cards. If you’ve given me any of these, chances are, I have stashed these in a box for safe keeping.
On Saturday night I went through my big pink box full of letters and re-read everything. So many people have written to me, indeed, a few people reading this today have probably sent me something that I hold dear.
I have seen so many varieties of handwriting. Some ever-changing, some disgustingly hard to read. From elegant, flowing cursive to disjointed, small print. Some people’s handwriting has never changed at all (Hey Suse, I may just be referring to you!)
I have Christmas cards from people I once knew in a blocked out memory. Cards from people that I always wished that I had found the time to write back. I always wish I had known the importance of keeping in touch when I was just that little bit younger.
I have kept the little trinkets contained in each note, I have laughed at the little drawings (e.g. Chelsea’s picture of Draco Malfoy saying “I’m sexy,” and Alex’s doodles of the Homestarrunner and crew.)
I found the amount of times I was promised “love always” amusing, and even more so was the realisation that I had never had any of these peoples’ love in the first place.
I have letters that I wrote to myself, and to other people that I never found the opportunity to spend (Oh, Noemi, it’s been nine months and your christmas letter still sits in that box.)
I own numerous postcards, sent to me from people kind enough to send a little slice of their vacations to me. Birthday cards from people lovely enough to remember and presents that I am thankful for.
These letters signify change, to me. I have seen names on the bottom of cards change, most notably that of “Love Nan, Pop and Elizabeth” to “Love Nan and Pop”, and most recently to “Love Pop and Margaret”. These letters have always given me immese pleasure when I read them. This leads me to the conclusion that I love letters and cards. In my opinion, emails pale greatly in comparison, it’s just not quite the same thing. I love buying pretty stationery and rambling on them. I love checking my mailbox and finding something (that isn’t a bill or bank statement) with my name on in and then excitedly tearing them open and deciphering the handwriting.
I will always collect letters, I love reading them, I love most of the people who wrote them to me, I can only hope that people get as much happiness from reading what I write to them as I do from their words.

Well, for one thing I definitely found your last card to me to be massive fancy. And the words massive, and fancy mean a lot from me, so it’s not sarcasm I’m exerting! Hehe, now that I’ve been to your house I have plenty to scrawl about :p I’m not sure when I’ll get around to it though. For example, the other day I just found a letter from Allison under a pile of gunk…from April six. Still haven’t replied. Still intend to. Still am a lazy prick. By the way you need to help me get Mozilla Thunderbird going. Hotmail.com… passport.com? Mail.live.com? Euh…

But Draco, you ARE sexy!
Muahaha, I’d lock my doors tonight if I were him. And the windows. Wouldn’t hurt to board them up and barricade them too.

I love letters and cards too, it’s great to send and receive things through the mail (indeed other than bills or bankstatements). When I was really ill a few years ago I even received letters and cards from people who read my story online and wanted to give me some encouraging words. It’s a great feeling to know that people who don’t know you take time out of their schedules to send a complete stranger a card or letter to wish them strength and good luck.
Last year I participated in a Christmas Card exchange that was set up by people in the fanclub I’m a member off. I never expected to get so many cards from people all around the globe whom I haven’t even spoken to before. The only thing that connects us is the love for this band, their music and music in general. I seriously hope they will set something up like that again this year.

You’ve inspired me to send you a letter. I have 4 letters in my drawer from about 9 months ago that I never got around to sending, and now its not worth sending them. I need your address.
P.S. (Heheh) You need to make the hair on your icon thing longer, because now you’re not so Bobby. You are more of a normal head rather than a Bob. The Builder.
Can we fix it?
YES WE CAN!!!

I love recieving letters and postcards too! It makes me feel so loved. ;)
ROFL. Yeah, I suppose my handwriting hasn’t changed much. I used to change it all the time - just for fun. But I’ve been content with this style for quite some time now, so it’s all good. ^^

I also collect tons of memories. It’s always refreshing to look back at them in the future. I probably have a drawer full of ‘em! Even hair, :P.
