Cross-Browser Compatibility
No, this is not an article on how to achieve it. Why on Earth would I write an article on something I can’t do?
WHY WHY WHY MUST ALL BROWSERS BE SO HARD TO CODE FOR? Why can’t they be the same? WHAT GOOD IS W3C IF ALL BROWSER COMPANIES DON’T CONFORM TO THEIR STANDARDS? Why doesn’t everyone just use one browser, even if it has to be IE or something? It makes me want to tear my hair out. ARGH!
Oh, if I complain a lot aobut coding/cross-resolution compatibility/cross-browser compatibility, it probably means I making a theme. Or in this case, tearing my theme apart and yelling at it to work in Opera and IE properly.
This is way more frustrating that studying for my maths exam is. Maybe I should just do that instead!

Agreed. It is a total pain. x_x

It’s because IE wants to make the internet their own place. Didn’t Microsoft state that they wouldn’t bring IE up to standards because too many sites would break? I think they said something like that, IE Idiots ruing the internet for the rest of us.
I’m seriously considering putting up a browser sniffer ala Binary Bonsai, why should I have to spend an extra week getting it to work in IE when I can have it working in all current Gecko browsers, Opera and Konqueror in less time?
Hey, maybe if a lot of people blocked IE users from their sites it’d start a change. Idiots would get sick of not seeing sites so they’d ditch IE and use alternative browsers. IE would lose market share and be forced to take serious action. Hopefully that serious action would be bringing their browser up to standard but I think that it’d probably just be a new skin like they’re doing with IE7

Amanda - Oooh, the magic is making me feel better instantly. ;)
Becky - Oooh, lets all block IE users from our sites! I wish :( I know that more visitors to BGS use IE, which is a major pain.

Remember, we aren’t doing this for the hits! *cough* yarite *cough* Something like 17% of the people who visit my site use IE so my number of visitors would dwindle by much :D
I find, though, that people who use IE tend to leave moronic comments such as: “haha dat is so tru!” or “i love the layout plz comment back!!1!1111!111″. Of course some people who use IE are all right, those types are few and far between lemme tell ya, but the majority of people who use IE are either just starting out, too old and set in their ways to switch now (ie: my grandparents) or too stupid to switch because they: “can’t learn how to use a new browser” (which brings up another point of irritation for me, how hard is it to use a new browser! The home, back, refresh and stop buttons are all there, the address bar is plainly visible and you can view websites… is it really that hard?).

^What Becky said.
I’m not concerned about the IE using visitors to my site. As far as I’m concerned, if they’re using IE, they’re not worthy enough to browse what I have to offer. ;)

I’ve come to the conclusion that I must be the only person in the world who has no problems making a layout cross-browser compatible..
I am sorry, I shouldn’t gloat. :P
# Tracey, 2 years, 5 months ago.
We all can’t be as Jem-like as you!
# Boris, 2 years, 5 months ago.
IE idiots? Oh, sorry guys.

[...] I could finish the themeI’m making (Little details have to be fixed. As well as that dreaded cross browser compatibility to look at). [...]

Man, you don’t KNOW how loudly I echo those sentiments. Cross-browser compatibility is a pain in the ass… but I guess tech-heads need something to program in their spare time.
If I had to pick one all-encompassing Web browser, it’d probably be Opera or Safari, though I hate Safari’s brushed-metal interface. It makes me think of nails scraping on a chalkboard. I could not have been happier when the gods of Opera decided to bestow upon us their ad-free version. I’m very fond of Firefox and have always found the bug response team to be very fast to respond and quick to remedy the problem, but Opera would definitely take precedence in this case. Opera is just as good, if not better than Firefox, and has received no such hype. I guess the people that programmed Firefox must’ve cut it lucky.
