How do you miss people?
One of my friends has left my school due to unfortunate circumstances. I can’t really imagine what lunch times and music classes will be like without his sarcastic comments flying into everyone’s ears, left, right and center. As much as I wish he’d return to school on Monday, it’s almost certain that he won’t and I feel sad about it. In the off chance that he might read this (I’m not sure if he knows about bgs or not)… I promised Alex I’d take her up to see you as soon as I get my P-Plates… In two years.
Sunday will be yet another family outing to my Grandparents’ graves. The type of outing where we burn incense and “hell” money (although my brother and I have always thought that this was a bad name for money that’s being sent to people who are hopefully in heaven), and pour rice wine on the grass before their graves.
I realised a few days ago, that this is our way of missing our grandparents. This is the Chinese way of missing our dead. In the theme of missing people (not as in lost people), how will I miss my friend?
How do you miss people? Your dead, your friends, your loved ones, your anyone/anything.
Do you miss them through crying?
Do you miss them through memories?
Do you ever miss something you’ve never had?

Hello Annie! Yeah, it’s mine. I feel sorry about Jack leaving too. I will miss him, though I did kick him in the shins a lot when he annoyed me. I think that was my way of showing violent affection. We all had a “violent affection” towards him, didn’t we? By the way, I edited your comment to get rid of James’ last name.

As un-cathartic as it may be, I just put such things to the back of mind and forget about it. While it might eventually result in my hysterical self being led to a psychiatrist’s couch as a result of this pent-up emotion, it does make things a lot easier now.

That’s bad Mandie!! As much as things hurt and bother you, it’s going to cost you more to keep things pent up than to just let that emotion show through.
I remeber having arguments with my parents and my sisters were we would all just end up crying, but it was better this way because then we wouldn’t have all of that pent up emotion and be resentful to each other.
Now, I miss people and things in memories and crying, hard work but someone has to do it :)
Have I ever missed something i’ve never had? Yes and no, but that’s for another time. :)

I think I miss people primarily through memories and thinking of what we had and subsequently what we could’ve had. I don’t know; I’m not one who openly shows emotions, and so I don’t cry, rather I dwell on them in my mind. I don’t think it’s the best way with dealing with the loss, but it works for my guarded disposition.

We’ll miss him. A lot. I don’t even know why. Maybe just because he’s a total shitehead. Oh well.

Hmmm. I miss people in a similar way to Amanda…I keep it to myself usually because I don’t talk about my emotions. Though I do cry if its a big thing, naturally.
I miss them through memories, yes, but I think that memories are needed, though they can make you feel bad…
Missing something I’ve not had…not really. I mean, there are things I wish I had, but I wouldn’t say I missed them!

That’s a really tough question to answer. =/
I’ve had to move schools a couple of times and each time it was hard. New friends and experiences take the edge off though, so I guess I’d advise you to try out something new…!

“Violent affection”? Nah, just affection for violence.
